Growth in God’s time
“This is what the Kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground. Night and day, weather he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how.
Mark 4:26-27
Have you ever been in your garden weeding, and come across a couple of flowers that you have not sown before. You didn’t plant them, but maybe they were brought in the wind, or were dropped by a bird in flight.
This is like spiritual growth that Jesus spoke about in the parable of the growing seed. He compares the Kingdom of God to a farmer scattering seed on the ground.
Of course it depends on the condition of the soil, but if it has been prepared well and watered, it will reap a harvest in God’s time. This should be an encouragement to all believers.
The development of the harvest, didn’t depend on anything more the farmer did.
“Neither he who planted nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow” 1Corinthians 3:7
The key to a spiritual harvest, is planting where God instructs us to plant. He will often use others to water, and others to reap, so all the glory will go to him.
It is the same law of sowing and reaping in prayer and intercession. Providing our prayers are in line with God’s will and purpose and His Word, they will come into fruition, if we remain faithful. There comes a time in heaven when the prayer bowls are overflowing, and their answers are poured out as blessings from above.
“Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls, full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.” Revelation 5:8
We may never see the results of what we have planted, but if God ordered the sowing, it will produce a harvest in His time, so don’t give up.
This parable about the Kingdom of God, demonstrates that the Holy Spirit is continually at work, harvest time is coming, get ready!
Then another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to Him who sat on the cloud, “Thrust in Your sickle and reap, for the time has come for You to reap, for the harvest of the earth is ripe.”
Revelation 14:15
